MARTONEN- BIOLOGY LESSON PLANS- 10/29/18
MICHIGAN SCIENCE STANDARDS ADDRESSED
HS-LS1-1 Construct an explanation based on evidence for how the structure of DNA determines the structure of proteins which carry out the essential functions of life through systems of specialized cells.
HS-LS1-2 Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms.
HS-LS1-3 Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence that feedback mechanisms maintain homeostasis.
HS-LS2-2 Use mathematical representations to support and revise explanations based on evidence about factors affecting biodiversity and populations in ecosystems of different scales.
HS-LS2-6 Evaluate the claims, evidence, and reasoning that the complex interactions in ecosystems maintain relatively consistent numbers and types of organisms in stable conditions, but changing conditions may result in a new
ecosystem. **
HS-LS2-7 Design, evaluate, and refine a solution for reducing the impacts of human activities on the environment and biodiversity.* **
HS-LS2-8 Evaluate the evidence for the role of group behavior on individual and species’ chances to survive and reproduce.
HS-LS4-6 Create or revise a simulation to test a solution to mitigate adverse impacts of human activity on biodiversity. **
MONDAY-
1) Notes- Chapter 7- students will be able to describe five scientists that contributed to the cell theory, the three main statements in the cell theory, and major
functional components of a typical cell.
2) Finish Ch 7 review sheets & cell size lab sheets
3) Cell City project- review rubric- due Monday
TUESDAY-
1) Chapter 7 group teach assignment
2)Chapter 7 group teach presentations and notes
3)Review structure and function of organelles
4)Finish Cell City project with all sketches and analogies
WEDNESDAY-
1)Lab-osmosis and diffusion- students will perform procedures and answer questions on a lab sheet for a grade to learn about osmosis and diffusion through a selectively permeable membrane.
2)Ch7 notes- passive and active transport
3)Ch7 review sheet due Friday
THURSDAY-
1)Cell city project- students have had a week to collect materials to create a project and complete a “cell city”. Students will follow procedures and answer questions on a lab sheet and final product will be graded with rubric given last week. This will be due tomorrow
